Coach Alberta at HPEC 2011
HPEC Celebrates its 50th Anniversary Conference
Coach Alberta was delighted to join HPEC in their 50th Anniversary Conference designed to Elevate Health and Physical Education in Calgary Alberta May 5th – 7th, 2011.
The Conference attracted teachers/coaches from around the province over the course of the three-day conference. The conference attracted specialists in physical education, health promoting schools, athletics, intramural recreation, dance and researchers in the education system from the elementary to post secondary school level. As well, generalist teachers, school administrators, public health nurses, related non government organizations and school board personnel from across Alberta gathered to share their knowledge and to network.
As teachers are some of the most valuable coaches sport has in the province, CAB took this opportunity to network with this group of professionals. This group of professionals are a vital link in promoting CAB and working towards improving and advancing the professionalism of coaching in Alberta.

Coach Alberta hosted Duff Gibson, with funding from Alberta Sport Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation, as guest speaker at HPEC. Duff delivered an empowering speech on The Mindset of Performance. Focusing on passion, work ethic, integrity and values, as well as the challenges of sport, Duff provided insights and methods he has learned as a coach to help bring the best out of athletes – both on and off the field of play.
CAB also set up a booth to invite delegates to learn more about Coach Alberta and to join the fraternity. Delegates were invited to register with CAB and were rewarded with promotional giveaways. Some valuable networking occurred during this time. We look forward to a long and continued relationship with teachers.
